PSE&G sends crews to Atlantic City Electric to help with restoration efforts
PSE&G’s electric service territory was not negatively impacted by the severe thunderstorms that have caused devastation and major outages this weekend in southern New Jersey and throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region.
PSE&G coordinates with Mid-Atlantic Mutual Aid Assistance (MAMA), an organization of nine utilities that assist one another following storms and other major outages. Our utility personnel have volunteered their time over this July 4th holiday to assist Atlantic City Electric (ACE) with their restoration efforts.
The first contingent of 50 PSE&G employees left early this morning to assist Atlantic City Electric with storm restoration. Of the 50 employees, 33 are linemen plus supervisors, maintenance, safety and support personnel. The crews will report to the Atlantic City racetrack for their assignments. PSE&G also dispatched 10 contractor tree crews to assist with vegetation clearing and six contractor line crews to ACE yesterday. Crews are expected to be away from home for several days.
Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) is New Jersey’s oldest and largest regulated gas and electric delivery utility, serving nearly three-quarters of the state’s population. PSE&G is the winner of the ReliabilityOne National Achievement Award for superior electric system reliability. PSE&G is a subsidiary of Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated (PSEG) (NYSE:PEG), a diversified energy company (www.pseg.com).
